Regroup & Regain Momentum

When I began writing this post ✍🏽 I had no idea what the title would be but as soon as the words starting coming to me the word regroup and the phrase regain momentum came to mind. For context this post was started on October 17th, to say it’s been busy is an understatement and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

When my Dad had his stroke in July 2024, nothing could have prepared our family for this life changing medical event. One day he is leaving me a message about his refrigerator not cooling to receiving the fateful call from the ER. Due to me forgetting to take my phone off vibrate from an earlier meeting, I had missed six (6) calls as he was being transported to the hospital. After getting off the phone with the ER everything was a blur as I called my Sister Valrie on the way to the hospital. I recall my Dad apologizing for having a stroke, that’s Dad never wants to burden his children. Speaking of children, my siblings always knew it would be me to as his caregiver. Mind you, I have absolutely no medical training whatsoever but when it’s your father patience and guidance by your Sister who is the nurse and will teach what you lack then you move forward in your new role. In December 2024, I have to add he also suffered a grand mal seizure however the resilience my Father shows in these setbacks just increases my faith and hope. Right now we are focusing on his physical, occupational and speech therapy because above all his quality of life is what is important to us. There is also a tiny bit of a selfishness in me that would like him at my races in 2026.

Now to “regroup” & “regain momentum”. The first word was a term my Father always used to describe why he was taking a day off from Soitheast Cycles, the motorcycle sales and repair shop in opened in 1977. In order to rest his mind and body so he can bring his best to his customers. I chuckle as I wrote this because Dayzha would LOVE “regroup” days. The latter is my term I came up with to stay hopeful for a 2026 return after the trials and setbacks. If you know me and my determination it comes as no surprise so ….. you’re welcome!

Lastly, my cloffice (a closet turned into an office) is coming along, I plan to post on YouTube the before, during and after of this project that includes new flooring and wallpaper provided by https://www.cffoftexas.com/

Also, as I mentioned at the beginning of this post on being busy well I came across more video and pictures as I get content for the documentary, autobiography and children’s book I’m working on of our family. I can even described the immense joy I get from every photo and story I get from my family. Stay tuned.

As I close, I would like to thank you for your endless support and love. Letting me share my life with you after all these years is a great comfort aa you literally get behind the scenes, real time moments. That’s all for now! Talk with you 🔜
